Clean & Photograph Tombstones

Jewish Cemetery Association (JCA) provides ongoing care and maintenance for Jewish cemeteries across Baltimore.

Volunteers are needed to clean up and photograph tombstones and other monuments at Mikro Kodesh Beth Israel Ceremony (Bowleys Lane) in Rosedale, Baltimore County.

Volunteers will be asked to remove debris/trash, clean, and photograph tombstones so they can be added to cemetery databases. Due to natural and human causes, many of the tombstones are faded and/or damaged and the writing/names are missing. Photographs will then be cataloged and added to online databases so that descendants can track their ancestors.

Location: Baltimore County (Rosedale)

Commitment: one-time event on Sunday, October 29th (event will start at 10am and last approximately 90 mins).

Restrictions: Any ages welcome. Volunteers must be able to stand, walk (on uneven ground), and bend over for extended periods of time. Volunteers must have access to a digital camera or high-quality smartphone camera. Any children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
